He was born June 16, 1912, in Sumner County, Kan., the son of Bert and Myrtle Pitchford Rives. He married Eleanor Duddleston in 1935 in Corning, Ark.; she preceded him in death in 1991.
Mr. Rives, a 72-year resident of Springfield, was the former owner of Hillier Storage and Moving Co. and agent for Allied Van Lines, retiring in 1975.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and the American Bowling Congress.
Survivors: three sisters, Bena Weber of Springfield, Wanda Samuels of Grass Valley, Calif., and Helen Rentschler of Rochester; 12 nieces and nephews; 17 great nieces and nephews; and 15 great-great-nieces and nephews.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, St. John's Lutheran Church, the Rev. Jerene Houser officiating. Burial: Roselawn Memorial Park.
