Heber City, UT – Joan Rasband Bond, beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend returned to her Heavenly Father on August 5, 2011.
Joan was a very loving mother and grandmother. She was extremely proud of her eight children and their accomplishments. Her family relished the many wonderful treats that she baked in her kitchen and the numerous family gatherings that she organized.
Joan was born December 23, 1930 to Heber M. and Birdie Jane Bate Rasband.
A life-long resident of Heber City, Joan was very active in her community and her LDS ward. She worked for Heber Light and Power for 22 years, was a member of the Grand Tappers, Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, and president of the Wasatch County Senior Citizens.
She served faithfully in all the Church auxiliary organizations of the Heber 6th Ward. She and her husband loved to travel. Joan suffered a stroke in September 1998 and fought valiantly to overcome its debilitating effects.
She spent the final eight years of her life in the home of her son, Michael, being lovingly cared for by Michael, his wife, Sherlyn, and their seven children. Joan eventually passed away in Michael's home from causes incident to age.
Joan is survived by her children, Linda Moon of Heber; Wayne (Robin) Bond of Heber; Joylene (Ken) Ritchie of Tremonton; Joe (Kristy) Bond of Heber; Susan (David) Nielson of Midway; Kenneth (Heather) Bond of Santaquin; and Michael (Sherlyn) Bond of Eagle Mountain; brother, Garth (Joan) Rasband of Midway; sister, Jean Ritchie of Bountiful; 40 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvis Bond; daughter, Elaine Koyle; granddaughter, Janae Nielson; brother, Weston Rasband; son-in-law, Jesse Moon; and daughter-in-law, Sherry Bond.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 11, 2011 – 12 Noon in the Heber LDS 1st Ward, 325 East 500 North, Heber City.
Viewings will be Wednesday from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. at Olpin-Hoopes Funeral Home, 288 North Main Street, Heber City, and on Thursday from 10:30 – 11:30 A.M. prior to the services at the LDS Church.
Interment will follow the services in the Heber City Cemetery
