He was the son of Alfred W. Whitehurst Jr. and Christine Whitehurst of Virginia Beach. Many other loving family members also survive him.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday in Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, and proceed to Forest Lawn Cemetery for a graveside service at 11 a.m. by Dr. Jerry Campbell.
