PANHANDLE - Margaret Helen Pyron Sparks, 83, formerly of Panhandle, died Friday, May 27, 2005, in Malakoff.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Panhandle Cemetery with Barbara Nichols, youth minister, officiating. Arrangements are by Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors of Panhandle.

Mrs. Sparks was born March 8, 1922, in Amarillo to Chester and Ida Belle Tucker Pyron Sr. She graduated from Panhandle High School in 1939 and Texas Christian University in 1943 with a degree in public school music. She served in World War II as a civil air traffic controller. She married Nolan Sparks on March 30, 1945, in Panhandle. She was a lifelong member of First Christian Church of Panhandle, where she was both a pianist and choir member. She was a charter member of the Athenaeum Womens Club in Panhandle. She loved her piano, dancing, bridge, golfing and spending time with all her childhood friends from Panhandle.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Chester M. Pyron Jr.; and a daughter, Pattie Sue Sparks.

Survivors include her husband of Star Harbor, and a son, Chester Sparks of Star Harbor.

Visitation will be from noon to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
