Maynard I. Treece, 82, of Mt. Carmel, died Saturday, August 23, 1997, at Wabash General Hospital.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Short Funeral Home in Mt. Carmel. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Cemetery. Vistation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials can be made to Asbury Chapel Church.

Treece was born Nov. 11, 1914, in Wabash County, the son of George W. and Frances L. (Barber) Treece. He married Leola Garwood Aug. 6, 1941, in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

He was a livestock and grain farmer and owner of Treece Brothers Trucking. He had interests in coal and oil. He was a member of Wabash County Farm Bureau and the Teamsters.

He is survived by his wife and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; seven brothers, Buren, Ezra, Roscoe, Ervin, William, Clifton and Elvin; and six sisters, Ella Thompson, Minnie Leveranz, Irene McMasters, Bessie Nelson, Viola and Gladys Treece.
