U.S. Congressman. Born in Midland Township, Michigan, he graduated from the law department of the University of Michigan, in 1905, was admitted to the bar and commenced practice in Midland, Michigan. He was a member of the Michigan State House of Representatives, (1909-15). In 1917, he was elected as a Republican to the Sixty-fifth and Sixty-sixth Congresses, serving until 1921. An unsuccessful candidate for re-nomination, he resumed the practice of law and also was in the banking business until his death at age 77 in Midland, Michigan.
