Services for Eric Daniel Hopkins, 27, of Cairo, GA, are at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 7, 2011, at Providence Baptist Church, Whigham, GA, with Rev. Chad Cooper, Rev. Douglas Halstead, and Rev. Robert Crapps officiating. Interment will be private. Mr. Hopkins passed away on Thursday, August 4, 2011, in Statesboro, GA.
Active pallbearers will be John Clay Flanders, Cameron Crapps, Adam McCord, Shane Braly, Rainey Sellers, David Groover, Casey Garner, and Kylie Lemon. Honorary pallbearers will be his co-workers with Heritage Bank of Statesboro.
Mr. Hopkins was born on May 29, 1984, in Thomasville, GA, to Dave Hopkins and Cheryl Mobley Hopkins, who survive. He was of the graduating Class of 2002 from Grace Academy in Bainbridge, GA. He attended Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, GA, where he would have graduated in December. He also worked as a teller with Heritage Bank in Statesboro and was a member of Providence Baptist Church. Eric enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his dog, Bonnie. He will always be remembered as a kindhearted and compassionate person that touched so many lives.
He is survived by his parents, Dave and Cheryl Hopkins of Cairo, GA; his sister and brother-in-law, Natalie and Patrick Scarbrough of Thomasville, GA; niece and nephew, Sadie Kate and Samuel Scarbrough of Thomasville, GA; and paternal grandparents, E. D. and Dorothy Hopkins of Cairo, GA.
Eric was preceded in death by: paternal grandmother, Peggy Hopkins; and maternal grandparents, Alto and Myrtle Mobley.
The family will receive friends at his parent's home located at 178 Cameron Road, Cairo, GA, on Saturday afternoon, August 6, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
