James Allen Blackman was born April 1, 1890 in Graham, Kansas and served with the United States Field Artillery in France during World War I. Following his discharge from the service, he moved to Wyoming and homesteaded in the Dry Creek community in 1919. He and his family lived on their ranch until 1945 when they moved to Douglas where Mr. Blackman became engaged in the garage and electrical business in which he was actively engaged until his death.

Mr. Blackman married Pearle E. Gleim in York, Nebraska prior to moving to Wyoming.

He was a member of the Fort Fetterman Post of the VFW in Douglas.

Survivors are his wife, Pearle; one son, Wayne of Casper; one daughter, Lydia Pero of Salt Lake City, a brother Jay of Hill City, Kansas; two sisters, Edith Krump and Ethel Wilkers of Arkansas and Texas; a half-sister, May Zugler of Phoenix, Arizona and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, James H. who died in 1939.
