Died in Westport CT. brought to Worcester, MA. for burial and given military funeral. His mother Ellen, brother Timothy and a sister Ellen were present from Bloomfield, N.J. where they moved from Worcester 3 yrs prior.
Graduate Worcester Classical High School, attended Holy Cross College and graduated from Lafayette College.

Capt. Courtney was residing in Bloomfield, N.J. also and on his way to decorate his father's grave for memorial day but had some business to take care of first.
Foul play was suspected at first of his death but then dismissed as accidental death run over by a train. Family was not satisfied with the conclusion of being accidental.
