Until recently it was not clearly understood how in the early 1900s Bettie Elizabeth (Stone) Lee could be the cousin by blood of descendants of Edward and Nancy (Bayes) Stone residing in eastern Oklahoma. Bettie would visit her Stone "cousins" while visiting her known half-siblings elsewhere in Oklahoma. Apparently the two separate Stone families were unaware of each other. Through intrafamily discussions it was finally concluded that the only means by which Bettie could be the half-sibling of one group of Stone family and a cousin by blood to another Stone family was if Bettie's mother was a dau. of Edward and Nancy (Bayes) Stone.
