Ame Lynn Deal, 10, from Pheoinx, AZ died from suffocation on July 12, 2011. Ame had also suffered from other horrible abuse from months before.
Ame was treated differently than other children who were living in the home because they felt that she did not belong to them. The family believed that Ame's father, David Deal, is not biologically her father because her mother Shirley Deal was seeing another man the time she conceived. However, David Deal is still listed as Ame's father on her birth certificate.
Police arrested Judith Deal, 62, Cynthia Stoltzmann, 44, and John and Samantha Allen, both 23. The Allens were charged with first-degree murder. Stoltzmann and Deal were charged with child abuse and kidnapping.
Cynthia is Ame's paternal aunt and legal guardian, and Judith is her grandmother who was homeschooling Ame and the other children who lived in the house.
The Allens are married, and Samantha Allen is Ame's aunt.
