William Joseph Bean, 77 of Bremerton, Washington died on April 28, 2001 at Martha & Mary Nursing Home in Poulsbo, Washington. He was born on March 15, 1924 in Price, Utah to Benjamin & Carrie (Evans) Bean. William married Enid Waterman in Salt Lake City, Utah on February 25, 1944. She preceded him in death in 2000. He graduated from Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon in 1966 with a Bachelor of Science Degree and in 1967 with a Dr. of Optometry.Mr. Bean worked for 32 years as an Optometrist, retiring in 1999. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a Sergeant from 1946 to 1949. William was a member of the Bremerton Kiwanis and a model train collector.Surviving are sons William C. Bean of Forest Grove, Oregon, Phillip L. Bean of Bremerton, David Bean of Poulsbo, and Douglas Bean of Port Orchard; daughter Jeanette Warner of Lawson, Missouri; brother Delbert Bean of Sandy, Utah; 18 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers Willis & Arnold, and sisters Ruth, Ida, & Melba.Visitation will be Wednesday, May 2, 2001 at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard from 6:00 to 8:00pm. Graveside Service will be at 12:00 Noon on Thursday, May 3rd at Sunset Lane Cemetery in Port Orchard followed by a Memorial Service at 2:00pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Silverdale. Memorial donations may be made to Martha & Mary Nursing Home, 19160 Front Street NE, Poulsbo, WA 98370.
