Walter J. "Walt" Strasser, 85, of Stevens Point, died Monday evening, January 9, 1995 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield, following heart surgery.
Walter was born on September 6, 1909 in Edgar the son of the late Albert and Pauline Tobolski Strasser. He attended schools in Edgar, and married Agnes Halkoskien on June 21, 1932 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Stevens Point.
After their marriage, the couple settled in Stevens Point and lived at the present address for 50 years. Walt was finishing foreman at Lullaby Furniture, Stevens Point, for forty years, retiring in 1971. He then worked for Sentry Insurance in Stevens Point for three years. Walt was a member of St. Stanislaus Holy Name Society. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, berry picking, hunting and fishing.
Walt is survived by his wife Agnes, Stevens Point; three daughters, Darlene Wierzba, Stevens Point, Yvonne (Bill) Wenzel, Waupaca, and Lucretia "Cookie" (Don) Wroblewski, Plover; four sons, Donald Strasser and Fred W. (Alice) Strasser of Stevens Point, Norman (Mary) Strasser, St. Nazienz, and Chet (Julienne) Strasser of Rockford, IL; 17 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Orville (Pat) Strasser, Pennsylvania and Edward (Barbara) Strasser of Merrill; and two sisters Dorothy (Prosper) Koppa, Marathon City, and Marie (William) Leopold of Merrill. He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers.
Funeral services were held on Thursday afternoon, January 12, 1995 at St. Peter Catholic Church, Stevens Point. Fr. Richard L. Fliss officiated. Burial took place at Guardian Angel Cemetery, Stevens Point.
The Pisarski-Dzikoski Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
