Frederic Dean Wilder died June 9, 2011, at the age of 96. He was born in Williamson County, Texas on March 4, 1915, and graduated from Sam Houston University in 1937. Fred lived in Freeport, TX prior to serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II from 1943 to 1946. He retired from Freeport Sulphur Company in New Orleans, LA in 1976 after 30 years of service. After retirement, Fred and wife, Johnnie Belle, lived in Lufkin, Wharton and Sugar Land,Tx and were members of the Methodist Church.
Survived by his wife, Johnnie Belle Vickers Wilder, of 71 years, one daughter, Donna and husband, Wes Linnenbank of Sugar Land, four grandchildren: Bob Stone and wife, Ginger of Sugar Land, David Linnenbank of Brooklyn, N.Y., Kristen Linnenbank and Ashley Linnenbank, both of Boston, MA, and great-grand daughter, Shelby Stone. He is, also, survived by three sisters: Pauline Alexander of East Texas, Lois Hazel of California, and Janice Smith of Alpine, TX. Also, one sister-in -law: Frances Horak of Huntsville, TX, many nieces and nephews and special caregiver Lerline Randolph.
Fred was devoted to his wife and family. He was mild mannered, soft spoken, and had a good sense of humor. He will truly be missed by all. According to his wishes Fred will be cremated and a family memorial service will be held at at later date.
