AMHERST TOWNSHIP -- Dale A. Carek, 66, of Amherst Township, formerly of Lorain, died Monday, July 30, 2007, at home, following a sudden illness.
He was born Feb. 19, 1941, in Amherst and moved from Lorain to Amherst Township 15 years ago.
Carek, a barber for 46 years, retired in December 2006 from his business, Dale's Barbershop on East Erie Avenue, Lorain.
He graduated from Avon Lake High School in 1959 and from Cleveland Barber College in 1961. He was a member of Holy Trinity Church, Lorain, In-Liners of America, the Good Guys and Fraternal Order of Eagles, Amherst.
He was an avid car hobbyist.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Mary (nee Brest); sons Jeffrey D. Carek of Canton, Mich., and Rick A. Carek of Orange Village; brother, Jim Carek of Poway, Calif.; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Carek and Susan Eileen Carek Krebs (nee Yaeger); his stepfather, Charlie Krebs; sister, Suellyn Carek; brother, Rick Carek; and a nephew.
Friends may call Wednesday, 5 to 9 p.m., at Busch Funeral Home, 32000 Detroit Road, Avon. Graveside services will be Thursday at noon at Calvary Cemetery, 555 North Ridge Road, Lorain. The Rev. Alexis Vinogradov will officiate.
