Stockton- Eugene J. Fox of rural Stockton died about 2:30 pm Friday at his farm as a result of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was born Nov. 6, 1919, in Stockton, son of Joe and Clara (Carroll) Fox. On Feb. 1, 1940, he married Velma Vanderheyden in the Holy Cross Catholic Church of Stockton. The couple farmed their entire married life south of Stockton.
A World War II Veteran, Mr. Fox served in Germany. He was wounded in France and was awarded the Purple Heart.
Surviving are his widow; a daughter, Mrs. Eugene (Janet) Broshous of Stockton; three grandchildren; his parents, Bernard of Daytona Beach, Fla. and Thomas of Stockton; two sisters, Mrs. Clifford (Rita) Adams of Washington and Mrs. Kenneth (Rosalie) Hotze of Stockton. One brother preceded him in death.
Funeral service will be at 10 am Monday in the Holy Cross Catholic Church, of which Mr. Fox was a member. The Rev. C.J. Thennes, pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery at Stockton.
Friends may call at the Hermann Funeral Home in Stockton after noon Sunday where the Rosary will be recited at 8 pm Sunday.
