Mrs. Nennie Pearl Compton, 89, of 101 Hopper St., Gaither Park, died at 11 o'clock Monday morning at her home following an illness of six years.

Born in Floyd County on July 24, 1877, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Hollis Dobbs, and had spent her entire life here. Mrs. Compton was the oldest member of the Silver Creek Primitive Baptist Church at Wax, having been a member there for 65 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Croley Compton, in April of 1934, and by a son Horace Compton in 1942.

Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. H. C. Abney, Mrs. Lucille Sanders and Mrs. R. D. Madden, all of Lindale, and Mrs. O. F. Tucker, of Rome; one son, Raymond Compton, of Lindale; one sister, Mrs. Birdie Mull, of Rome; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were set at 2 o'clock this afternoon in the Silver Creek Primitive Baptist Church at Wax, with Elder T. J. Hatch and Elder W. C. Lloyd officiating. Burial was to be in the Wax Cemetery.

Grandsons were pallbearers.
