MUNCIE--Geneva Popplewell, 87, Bluffton, former Muncie resident, died in Christian Care Retirement Center, Bluffton, Tuesday Jan. 6, 2004, after an extended illness.

A native of Jamestown, Tenn., she was the daughter of Everett and Mattie Voiles Delk and had been a Muncie resident since 1940. She attended schools in Tennessee and graduated in 1943. Mrs. Popplewell retired from Excel Manufacturing, Muncie, in 1971, after 20 years of service as a trainer. She was a former member of Madison St. United Methodist Church and the Eagles Auxiliary Aerie 231 in Muncie.

Survivors include a sister, Billie Beaty (husband-Carl), Muncie; a brother, Wendell Stephens, Yorktown; and several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Orville Popplewell; her parents; two sisters, Dean Wilson and Charlotte Burris; and five brothers, Stanford Delk, Benton Delk, Travis Delk, Daures Stephens, and Hagen Delk.

Services for Mrs. Popplewell will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Parson Mortuary, with Pastor Dennis Trimble officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. today and before services Friday.
