John married Evelyn Wilson on 17 April 1905. The couple had two daughters, Bessie and Beulah and then tragically, Evelyn died. John later remarried and had a son.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Coupeville Methodist Church for John M. Sullivan. Interment was at Sunnyside Cemetery.
Mrs. Ethel Libby sang accompanied by Mrs. Agnes Hancock. Pallbearers were Arthur Black, Charles Morgan, Ed Kottke, Ed LeSourd, Shirley Parker and C.O.Barrett.
"Jack" Sullivan was born in Birch Lake, MN September 17, 1883. He expired at his home about 4 o'clock last Friday morning October 19, 1956 at the age of 73 years following a short illness. He had lived near Coupeville for the past 50 years engaging in logging and farming until retirement.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Bessie Snyder and Mrs. Beulah Noe of Seattle, a son, Thomas M. Sullivan of Coupeville, four sisters, Mrs. Emma Howell of Oak Harbor, Mrs. Celia Logue and Mrs. Marie Fruichanti of Seattle and Miss Irene Sullivan of Wenatchee; two brothers, Timothy Sullivan of Los Angeles, CA and Edward Sullivan of Coupeville, five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
His wife, Georgianna, preceded him in death September 7, 1954.
