Chico Enterprise-Record, Thursday, September 18, 1997, pg 3C: Vivian Pyle – Durham – A funeral for Vivian L. Pyle, 80, of Durham, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the Brusie Funeral Home in Chico. She died Tuesday, Sept. 16, 1997, at her home.
Mrs. Pyle was born Feb. 21, 1917, to Leroy and Lillian Ford in Durham, where she attended schools and graduated from Durham High School in 1936. In 1937, she married Virgil Pyle in Durham. She owned and operated a beauty salon for more than 40 years.
Mrs. Pyle owned 50 acres of almonds and walnuts in Durham and spent a lot of time working on the ranch. She enjoyed going placed wither sister, Lorraine.
She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge of the Odd Fellow. She was also a server for the Durham Rotary Club for many years.
Survivors include a son, Jimmie Pyle of Yankee Hill; a daughter, Patricia Hawkins of Concord; a sister, Lorraine Hutton of Durham; and seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Burial will be at Glen Oaks Memorial Park in Chico.
