Joseph A. Haas, 85, died at his home of heart failure on Wednesday, Jan. 14, 1976. Mr. Haas, a retired farmer, was born May 17, 1890 in the town of Worden, living in the Thorp area all his life. On March 16, 1914 he was united in marriage to Anna Flora Banderob at St. Bernard's Church.
Surviving are his wife Anna; two sons, Melburn of Stanley and James of Waukegan, IL; five daughters, Vilus Hanson of Spencer, Ruth Dupey of Spooner, Marian Hull of Stanley, Ethel Ciolkosz of Chippewa Falls and Patricia Koltis of Thorp; one brother, Casper Haas of Thorp; and one sister, Margaret Kass of Thorp. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Alice and Joyce, and one son, Dean.
Funeral services were held at St. Bernard's-St. Hedwig's Catholic Church, Thorp, on Sat., Jan. 17, 1976 with Father Francis Brockman officiating at the 10:00 a.m. service. Interment was made in St. Bernard's Cemetery. Pallbearers were grandsons, Roger Haas, Donald Hanson, Dean Haas, Stanley Bonk, James Hull and Randy Ciolkosz.
