Dale was baptized on November 4, 1934. His parents and siblings moved to the farmstead that his parents built one mile east and 1/4 mile south of Daykin in 1925. That is where he lived all his life. He was confirmed July 11, 1948. He attended school at Daykin Public School and graduated with the class of 1953.
After graduation, Dale entered the army on June 13, 1957. He served his country for 2 years. He was stationed in Germany from May 1958 through June 8 1959. After returning home from the service, he helped his father and older brother farm. He was a farmer all his life.
Dale never married but was always there for his nieces, nephews and friends. He was a member of the Daykin American Legion Post #198 and St. John Lutheran Church. He had a love for all animals, but especially a love for cats. Rascal, his beloved cat, was his confidant and friend after his brother Ralph died in 1999.
Due to health problems, Dale entered the Heritage Nursing Care Home on November 3, 2009. Dale was a big man, but his quiet and appreciative debonair made him a favorite of the nursing home staff. They called him their gentle teddy bear. Heritage Nursing Home became his home and family for the past year and a half, where he was loved by all the staff. Horizon Hospice also became very special to Dale as he looked forward to his weekly massage and the nurses weekly visit.
Preceding him in death were his parents, twin brothers, Ralph and Roy: sister, Ruth Strothman Lorna Hinzman.
