My Grandmother

"Midge". Daughter of Ernest Kuykendall & Mary Etta Spitzer. Wife of Lawrence Snoots, who survived her five years. Mother of Barry and Carrie, grandmother of Jennifer and Jessica Snoots and Barry, Krystin and William Browning. Stepmother of Lawrence Snoots and step-grandmother of David Snoots. She is also survived by brothers Dorman, Bill, Blaine, Ray, Tom, Paul and Ernie. Predeceased by a brother, Hayes, and her only sister Leoda Abendschoen.

In 2009, Granny would've been beyond excited to welcome her first great-grandchild, Krystin's son Carter.

My grandmother was a 1954 graduate of Moorefield, WV High School. She was in the W.A.F. before she married, and spent her time there at Lackland AFB in Texas. She worked for the Social Security Administration in the main office in Baltimore. She was active in her church and the Order of the Eastern Star. She liked country music, West Virginia, Louis L'amour western novels and travelling around the South with my granddad in their motorhome. She always sent postcards from all sorts of interesting places. Sometimes we went with our grandparents to places like Gettysburg and to various theme parks, where my grandparents rode some seriously scarey looking roller coasters and us grandkids wussed out. She hosted great get togethers on Christmas Eve. Her family was important to her. Granny was a great cook, especially her pancakes with homemade sausage gravy. She always made it for breakfast when me and my sister spent the night. The three of us usually hung out on her bed and watched stuff like "Dallas" and "Falcon Crest". Even though she was a young grandmother (just turned 39 when I was born), she always looked like a proper grandmother, because she went gray very young.

Granny had cancer off and on for many years and had many other health problems, but she never let it stop her from living a full and happy life.
