Albert E. Adler, 90, of Lakefield Twp., died at the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans in Marquette on Wednesday, November 26, 2008.

Born in Engadine on May 1, 1918, he was a son of the late Samuel Adler and Pauline (Greenwood) Adler. Ernie attended Engadine Schools and was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Army. Following his service to his country, Ernie was employed at Great Lakes Steel in the Detroit area until his retirement in 1978 following 33 years of service. After his retirement he returned to the Lakefield Twp. area. Ernie is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Daniel, Paul, Walter and Benji, sister Ada and two grandsons Jeffrey Adler and Matthew Ziolkowski. Ernie enjoyed vegetable gardening.

Survivors include his wife, the former Florence McLaren, whom he married on July 7, 1944 in Manistique; son and daughter-in-law Ron (Linda) Adler of McMillan and daughter Irene Adler of Melvindale; several step children; grandchildren Zachary, Mary & Alex, two step grandchildren, six step great-grandchildren and five step great-great-grandchildren; brother Lawrence of Fenton, MI.
