April 23, 2005 Evelyn N. Ladouceur McGuire, 75, of Syracuse, passed away at home on Saturday, surrounded by her loving family, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Evelyn was born and raised in Ogdensburg, NY, and resided inSyracuse for the past 48 years. Evelyn was a homemaker, then worked at Holy Cross Rectory for 17 years, before leaving due to ill health in 2002. Evelyn was a very loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother. She devoted much of her time to playing cards with her grandchildren and attending all their school and sporting events. Evelyn also enjoyed playing bingo, watching SU basketball games and baking. Evelyn was predeceased by her parents, Edgar and Olive Ladouceur; daughter, Deborah Ann McGuire in 1952; sister, Jacqueline Vitullo; and brother, Edgar Ladouceur. Survived by her devoted husband of 54 years, Robert L. McGuire; a son, Edgar H. McGuire, and his wife Mary Anne of Syracuse; two daughters, Roberta "Robin" Redmond, and her husband Terry of N. Syracuse and Maureen Reilly and her husband Brian of Liverpool; a stepson, Patrick (Kay) McGuire of New Zealand; four grandchildren: Jennifer (Tim) Roy, Greg Redmond, Eric Redmond and Collin Reilly; sisters, Ada (Richard) Prophet of Ogdensburg, NY, and Keitha Lalonde of Florida; brother, Harold (Julie) Ladouceur of Florida; sister-in-law, Joan Ladouceur of Norwood, NY; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 8:15 a.m. Wednesday in Pirro & Sons Funeral Home and 9:15 a.m. in Holy Cross Church, Dewitt. Burial will be in Woodlawn Mausoleum. Friends may call at the funeral home, 514 Turtle St., from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Contributions may be made in Evelyn's name to Hospice of CNY, 990 Seventh North Street, Liverpool, NY 13088.
