Orville H. Schimmel, 92, of Curtice, died Sunday, December 30, 2007, in the Genoa Care Center. He was born September 25, 1915, in Curtice, Ohio, to Herman and Mary Grosjean Schimmel. In 1984 Orville retired after 43 years as a tool designer for Toledo Scales. He was a member of the Ottawa County Farm Bureau. His many interests included traveling all over the United States, Mexico, and Canada, and playing golf in the Toledo area leagues for many years.
His survivors include his sister, Barbara Edward Studnezki of Curtice and brother, Gerald C. Schimmel of Williston, as well as several nieces and nephews. Orville was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Lloyd, Verral, and Norman Schimmel.
A graveside service will be conducted 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 2, 2008, in Allen Township Cemetery, Williston. There will be no visitation. The family suggests memorials for Orville to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg. The Robinson-Walker Funeral Home, Genoa, has assisted the family with arrangements.
