Oscar immigrated to the United States with his parents, John and Martha, his brother Charles and his sister, Laura, who was born aboard ship. Landing in Boston they went to Chicago City, Minnesota, and from there to Mora. He grew up in this area and moved to the state of Washington a few times.
The family being in the contruction business, all were plasterers, bricklayers and much more. Oscar missed his true calling which was music. He was well known for his dance bands in a wide area. He was an excellent violinist and was well known in a wide area. His sister, Sadie, an accomplished pianist, was with him those many years.
