"The maiden name of Mary is unknown. However family lore of one branch of descendants has it that it was McCoy. Around 1846 the Rev. Edward Ratchford Geary wrote as follows: 'Some account of my ancestry as obtained this evening from my Mother, Margaret White Geary.'. . .This report by Margaret White Geary as told by her son was recorded in "Ancestors of KY", Volume 5, pages 82-86", and states that Mary White's maiden name was McCoy. This Margaret White Geary was a niece of Leonard White, the first husband of Mary McCoy White Brownfield.
