Mrs. Martha Ellen Whiting
The death of Mrs. Martha Ellen Whiting, who suffered a stroke of paralysis two weeks ago, occurred at her home on Sodus Street at 5:30 Saturday evening, having been unconscious from the first. Her daughter, Mrs. Geo. Logan, or W. Medford, Mass., was with her during the brief illness. One other child, Thomas J. Whiting of Gatun, Panama Canal Zone, survives her.
Mrs. Whiting was a woman most highly respected and esteemed by a wide circle of friends who sincerely mourn her loss. She was born in Wilmington, Del., in September, 1841, and was married in Augusta, GA., in June, 1864, to Herman G. Whiting, a former resident of Clyde, who went south before the war in 1861, and returned to Clyde with his family about 40 years ago, after the death of his father, Thos. Whiting, and occupied the old homestead.
Funeral services were held at the home at 2:30 Monday afternoon. Rev., W. H. Lewis, rector of St. John's Episcopal Church, of which deceased was a devout member, officiating.

Census records indicate that in 1870 Martha, 28, was living with her husband H. C. Whiting. a jeweler, and two children, Irene, 5, and Herman, 10 months, and two domestic servants, Susan Whiting, 70, and Patsey Whiting, 35, in Savannah, Georgia.

Henn, 14. Irene and Herman were born in Georgia, and Gertrude and Thomas were born in New Jersey.
Census records indicate that in 1900 Martha, 56, was widowed and was living in Clyde Village, Wayne County, New York, with her two sons, Herman, 30, a glassblower, and Thomas, 23, a postal clerk.
Census records indicate that in 1910 Martha E., 64, a widow, was living in Galen, Wayne County, New York, with her son Thomas J., 34, (born in New Jersey) who was a postal clerk.
