Mrs. Emma Anderson of this village passed away yesterday afternoon at the home of Johannes Hemquist after having suffered from cancer for over a year. She has been confined to her bed for the past ten weeks and has been at times suffering intensely.
Having an incurable disease, death was a welcome guest and the patient sufferer has now passed into that eternal sleep.
Mrs. Emma Anderson was born in Elmsboda, Sweden, May 21, 1847 and emigrated to America in 1870, coming to Stillwater, where she settled for a number of years. About 35 years ago she married August Toreen at Taylors Falls. Mr. Thoreen died about 25 years ago and two years after his death she was married a second time, the last time to John Anderson of Shafer, a union which was dissolved after 2 years duration. Her trials have been many, but amidst it all she has carried herself with remarkable fortitude.
The funeral will be held at 2:00 from the Johannes Hemquist residence and later from the chapel at Center City, Rev Eckman officiating.
Mrs. Anderson leaves one daughter to mourn by her first marriage, namely Mrs. Johannes Hemquist of this village, the daughter Nannie by the second marriage having died a couple of years ago.
Peace to the dead mother's ashes.
