Hazel Ward Williams, 101 Of Big Stone Gap, Virginia passed away July 29, 2011 in Zionsville, Indiana.
She was born March 22, 1910 in Olinger, Virginia to the late Jeff and Molly Ward. She was preceded in death by her husband, John D Williams, Jr.
Hazel is survived by her brother, Gerald Ward of Fairborn, Ohio, son John D. Williams III, daughter-in-law Mary Lu Williams, grandchildren Amanda Williams, John D. Williams IV, Jessica Williams Smedley, husband Dr. Eric Smedley, great grand-daughter Ella Hazel Smedley, plus numerous nephews and nieces.
Hazel was a long time resident of Big Stone Gap, Va. and employee of Kelly Motor Company. She served her community supporting youth sports, school band and sports, and was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church.
Hazel was deeply devoted to her family. Her kindness and sincere caring for everyone she came into contact has created memories that will not be forgotten. She will be missed by everyone who knew her.
Contributions, in lieu of flowers, can be donated to the Kelly Sunday School Class of Trinity United Methodist, P. O. Box 217, Big Stone Gap, VA 24219. Or contributions can be donated to the Hazel Williams Education Fund and sent to the John D Williams family, 225 Spring Drive, Zionsville, Indiana 46077
Visitation from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and funeral service at 4:00 p.m. will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church (E. 1st St., S. and Wyandotte Ave, E.) on Sunday, August 7 with Dr. Ken LaDuke officiating.
Interment will follow in Glencoe Cemetery in Big Stone Gap, VA.
Pallbearers will be: Denny Flanary, J. C. Summers, Bob Horton, Mark Clendenon, Paul Clendenon and Chris Allgyer.
A memorial service is being planned to be held Zionsville Meadows, 675 S. Ford Road in Zionsville, IN on August 14 at 3:30 PM.
