Born in the old town of Bering off old Hwy 35 near Moscow, Texas, he was raised in various towns in Polk County and finally Houston, Texas. Here, he raised four children with wife Margaret McMillen, working as a pipe fitter and welder for the local gas company. Later in life, he moved to Eagle Lake and remarried to Ernestine Jones, fathering an additional child. He is survived by his brothers Calvin and Jim, sister Therma Lee Dominy, sons Tracy, Miles, and Miguel, and daughters Denise and Kim, as well as extended families in Eagle Lake and East Texas.
