ACCIDENT CLAIMS YOUNG COUPLE
The tragic death of two young people, Vickie Lea Powell and D. V. Trent Stulp, stunned this community Friday evening. They were killed in a highway accident north of Limon, en route to the Yuma-Salida football game.
The accident occurred 10 mines north of Limon, on Highway 71; a head-on crash with a tractor-trailer unit driven by [name omitted]. He suffered minor injuries.
Both were 22 years of age and 1969 graduates of the Yuma High School. Vickie was the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Powell, and D. V. the second son of Mr. and Mrs. John Stulp, Sr. Both were senior students at Colorado State University and would have graduated next spring. D. V. was currently doing student teaching at the Yuma High School.
A double memorial service was held Tuesday afternoon at the United Methodist Church with pastors Larry Burton and Tom Westfall officiating. Burial was made in the Yuma Cemetery.
