Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 2, 1985, at the Champion Funeral Home for Marianne Lybarger, 91, of Vinton, and formerly of Osage, who died on Sunday, December 30, 1984, at a Vinton nursing home.

The Rev. John Gilbert officiated at the service and burial was in the Osage Cemetery.

Mrs. Lybarger was born, January 3, 1892 in Germany and came to the U.S. in 1914. She taught foreign language at the McGill University in Montreal, Canada.

She married Bruce Lybarger in Osage in 1916. They farmed in the area until they moved to Charles City in 1959. He died in 1966 and in 1968 she moved to Newhall and lived there until entering a Vinton nursing home three years ago.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, an infant daughter, Faith, a daughter, Ruth and two sisters and two brothers.

She is survived by one daughter, Miriam Snare of Sun City, Arizona; one son, Lee of Marion; 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
