William Theodore "John" Brewer, 84, of Big Spring, died on Saturday, July 30, 2011, in a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel. Interment will follow at Mt. Olive Memorial Park.

John was born on August 21, 1926, in Cherokee, Alabama and married Lillian Brewer on November 8, 1946 in Huntsville, Alabama.

He served with the United States Army 167th Infantry, 31st Division, Company L, during World War II in the South Pacific.

He moved to Big Spring in 1952 and soon began working at Webb Air Force Base. He was one of the last two employees at the closing of the base. John was also a long time supporter of the Eagles Lodge.

Survivors include his wife, Lillian Brewer of Big Spring; three sons, William David Brewer and wife, Sharon of Plattsburg, New York, Tom Brewer and wife, Lawanda of Big Spring, and Tim Brewer and wife, Connie of Inez, Kentucky; one daughter, Sheliah Brewer of Big Spring; six grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; one brother, Joe Douglas Brewer of Brady; and one sister, Edith Hughes of Huntsville, Alabama.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Grady, Sr. and Eizabeth Potts Brewer; one brother, Thomas Grady Brewer, Jr.; one sister, Willene Peppers; and one granddaughter, Alisha Brewer.
