Charles August Maitland Jr., 73, a resident of Har­risonburg, went to be with his Lord and Savior last week.

He was born in Har­risonburg on June 4, 1938, and was a son of the late Charles Au­gust Maitland Sr. and Myr­tle Baker Maitland.

Charles lived his entire life in the Rockingham County area, and attended Rocking­ham County Schools. He was formerly employed at several area dairy farms, and Har­risonburg Auto Auction.

He is survived by a broth­er, James Maitland and wife, Debbie, of Harrisonburg; a sister, Martha Heatwole and husband, Roland, of Mount Crawford; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, August 4, 2011, at Elk Run Ceme­tery in Elkton, with Pastor Jim­my Kite officiating.

A memorial service will be held 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 4, at Ray of Hope Pen­tecostal Church in Har­risonburg, with Pastor Jim­my Kite and the Rev. William Albright officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice in his memory.
