Born Ruth Agnes Leonard on June 21, 1918 on a farm near Holt, MI, Ruth went to school in the Petrieville and the Bunker one room schools, finishing 8th grade. She then worked as a laborer in Horner Woolen Mills, Hoag Book Bindery, and Greers Manufacturing, and she lived with her family until 1960 when she married Donald Walter Doolittle in Lovelock Nevada. On August 7, 1961, their only child, a daughter Patricia Joan, was born in Reserve, New Mexico. Ruth returned to her family in Michigan in 1965, residing on the family farm near Springport until 2000, when she moved into Tendercare Nursing Home in Albion MI. She was 83 years old when she passed away with her brother, John Leonard, at her bedside.
