It is this wife Alice that is mentioned in the 1675 Will of John Hardy with relatives John Johnson, Robert Burnett and William Mayo. There is no proof the John Hardy and Olive Council ever had any son named John Hardy Jr, or that he or his claimed wife of Alice Bennett ever existed."
Books by John Bennett Boddie and other early genealogists claimed there was a son John Hardy Jr. but all documents cited as referring to him are now determined to refer to John Hardy Sr.
