Obediah married Cornelia "Nellie" Rutledge in 1866 in Linn County where they continued to live for many years. They were parents to eight sons, including Cleveland "Cleve," Clyde (who was killed in 1907), Lafayette, Frederick, and Thomas. Both Obediah and Cornelia are listed in the Bellinger Cemetery in Linn County. Sarah Jane and William, Cornelia's parents, are buried there and have a headstone. The date of death for Cornelia is listed as 1907. She was living with her youngest son in Washington and actually did not die until 1937.
