He was born June 18, 1898, in Jackson County to Robert and Magdalena Darnstaedt Fritsche. On Feb. 16, 1920, in Nebraska, he married Ida Oetjen.
Survivors include his wife; sons, Arnold of New Athens, and Freemon of Percy; daughters, Loraine Fritsche, and Norma Ernsting, both of Steeleville; a brother, Arthur of Jacob; sisters, Bertha Koch of Jacob, and Rosie Meisner [sic] of Fenton, Mo.; 16 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Two daughters preceded him in death.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Christ Lutheran Church in Jacob, with the Rev. Duane Imig officiating. Burial will be in the Fountain Bluff Cemetery, near Gorham. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Saturday at the Schaack Funeral Home in Steeleville.
