US Congressman. Served in the Confederate Army during the Civil War. Elected to represent Alabama's 3rd District in the United States House of Representatives, serving from 1871 to 1873. Also served as a Delegate to the Democratic National Convention from Alabama in 1876, Member of the Alabama State Senate in 1888, Delegate to the Alabama State Constitutional Convention in 1901, and Member of the Alabama State House of Representatives in 1903.
