Son of Robert Lee and Leatha Mae Coleman Lane. Jimmy married Louise Dimery on September 16, 1955.

MARION - Mr. Jimmy DeLeon Lane, 79, husband of Louise Demery Lane, died Saturday, July 30, 2011 at his home after an illness.

Mr. Lane was born May 28, 1932 in Marion County, a son of the late Robert Lee Lane and late Leatha Coleman Lane. He had been a long distance truck driver for R.C. Motor Lines and retired from Smurfit Stone Container Company. Mr Lane was a member of Ariel Baptist Church where he was a Deacon, a past Sunday School Superintendent, a member of the church choir and a member of the Adult Sunday School Class.

Surviving Mr. Lane in addition to his wife of the home are a daughter, Jean Lane Chavis (Randy) of West Columbia; two sisters, Jewell Lane Thomas of Rains and Virginia Lane Johnson of Marion; a brother, William Joe "Billy" Lane of Pocotello, Idaho; 2 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren.

Mr. Lane was predeceased by a beloved son, Russell Lane; a sister, Estaline Spivey and two brothers, Harold Lane and Michael Lane.

Funeral services will be held Monday morning, August 1 at 11:00 a.m. in the Ariel Baptist Church Sanctuary. Burial will be in the Ariel Baptist Church Cemetery, directed by Smith-Collins Funeral Home.
