Renee (Mooney) Carr, 48, of Edwardsville and formerly of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Monday evening, July 25, 2011, at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital after a long and courageous battle with Lupus. Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of Gloria (Jones) Mooney Ward, of Edwardsville, and the late Martin Mooney.
She was a graduate of Bishop Hoban High School, Wilkes-Barre, class of 1981, was employed for Sallie Mae in the Clerical Department, and for the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital in the Purchasing Department.
Surviving, in addition to her mother, Gloria, are her son Peter Carr, Wilkes-Barre; brother, Joseph Mooney and his wife, Sheila, Warrior Run; uncles, Donald Jones, Mountain Top, and Edward Jones, Wilkes-Barre; nephew Joey Mooney; nieces, Abbey and Megan Mooney; as well as cousins and her dog, Nikki.
Funeral will be held at 10:15 a.m. Friday from the Corcoran Funeral Home, Plains Township, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Nicholas Church, Wilkes-Barre.
Interment will be held in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township, at the convenience of the family.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday evening.
