BLENHEIM [Marlboro Co.], Aug. 10—Manton Alford, one of the most prominent planters of Dillon County, died at his home at Selkirk, in Dillon County, last Friday and was buried at the Alford Cemetery near Reedy Creek Presbyterian Church last Saturday at 11 o'clock….

Mr. Alford was about 62 years of age and was a life long resident of Dillon County. He was a man of generous and genial impulses and given to hospitality—a typical gentleman of the old regime. He was highly esteemed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife and the following children: James L. Alford, Manton Alford, Duncan Alford, Earle Alford, Mary Love Alford, Margaret Alford, Tochie and Juliette Alford. He is also survived by one brother and one sister.
