Daniel David Thompson, age 69, returned to his Heavenly Father on the night of July 27, 2011.
Danny was born April 25, 1942 in Honolulu, Hawaii. Parents Dorothy Jane Neal and John Taylor Sawyer.
He married JoAnne Anderson on July 20, 1963 in Salt Lake City. Later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. She preceded him in death on January 20, 2002.
He served proudly in the U.S. Air Force. He retired from Engelhard Corp. in 2001 after thirty-seven years of service.
Danny was a wonderful husband, father, brother, grandfather, and uncle. He was a kind and gentle man who loved all living things. Danny loved to go fishing with his buddy, Andy and was passionate about his family of cats who kept him company until the end.
He is survived by son David; daughter Paula (Tracy) Gorman of Kearns; sister Bonnie (Ron) Welch of San Diego; six granddaughters; two great-granddaughters; and one great-grandson. He leaves a large extended family who love him dearly.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the Kearns Western Hills Stake Center, 5380 West 5400 South. Friends may call Monday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State Street (100 East), and Tuesday one hour prior to the services at the church.
Interment: Murray City Cemetery.
