Alma Lena Allen, age 95, of Lynn, Indiana, died Tuesday, October 20, 2020, at Randolph Nursing Home. Born April 6, 1925, in Rockcastle, Kentucky, to James T. and Arminda Hale Miller, Alma lived in Lynn since 1945. She sewed for ten years at Kabert Industries and worked at Richmond Glove Factory for two years. Alma attended Bloomingport Friends in Lynn, where she taught Sunday school, and later attended Lighthouse Wesleyan in Lynn. She enjoyed sewing lap blankets with the women of Arba Friends Church, quilting, crocheting, making Christmas cookies and candy, and demonstrating and selling Artex painting. Alma was a good mom, always patient, very loving, and a wonderful woman.
Survivors include her children, Troy (Brenda) Allen of Lynn, Glenn (Linda) Allen of Union City, Indiana, and Vicki Gross of Lynn; daughter-in-law, Sherrie Allen of Quincy, Ohio; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Marjorie Miller of Richmond, Indiana, Eddy Miller of Rockcastle, Kentucky, and Esther Fullerlove of Mount Vernon, Kentucky; nieces; nephews; cousins; and many friends, including special friends, Jenny and Dallas Williams of Lynn.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, George W. Allen, who died August 17, 1990; son, Kevin "Buck" Allen; son-in-law, Tony Gross; parents; and siblings, Gracie Baker, Martha Hale, Birdie and Frankie Gregory, and Johnie, Edgar, Oscar, James, Jessie, and Raymon Miller.
Visitation for Alma Lena Allen will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 24, 2020, at Doan and Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 24, 2020, at Doan and Mills Funeral Home with nephew, Rev. Toney Wilson officiating.
