Edward was born the son of William and Elizabeth Dunlap Pickett in 1807 ( headstone shows the wrong year ) in Pelesgrove Township, Salem County, New Jersey.
He married Catharine Conver, daughter of Peter Conver and Elizabeth Remer Conver Strawn in 1828.
Edward came to the New Hope, Pennsylvania area soon after his marriage to become a " boat builder (carpenter) " to build boats to be used on the " new canal " that was finished in 1832.
He ended up building many of the boats used in the canal from his " Boat Yard Lot " that was between South Main and New Streets in New Hope.
He was the Dad of
Elizabeth D. Pickett Stout ~ William P. Pickett ~ Mary Ann Pickett Dobbins ~ Sarah Pickett Buchanan, Jacob Pickett, John S. Pickett ~ Joseph Pickett ( Famous Artist of New Hope, Pa. ), and Isabella Pickett Kitchin.
He passed away in his home on South Main Street in New Hope....
