Dee moved at an early age with her family to California and was raised in the Los Angeles and Sacramento, California, areas. She met Glen Hood at a rodeo and the two were later united in marriage. They made their home in Camas Valley, Oregon, in the 1950s. Glen passed away in 1989.
Dee enjoyed playing bingo and going to the casinos, but real true love was for her family.
She is survived by her son, James (Jim) Hood and his wife, Ronda. She also leaves three sisters, Bessie Norman and Kathy Medina of Virginia and Rosemary Fisher of California, as well as a brother, James Butler of Virginia. Dee was blessed by grandchildren, James (Jim) Hood of Eugene, Oregon; Lisa Hood of Winchester, Oregon; Mike Hood of Winston, Oregon; Tina Hood Roseburg, Oregon; Branden Mendenhall and Kristen Jensen of Camas Valley; Cody Mendenhall of Oakland, Oregon, and Breeanne Ricks of Riddle, Oregon, as well as great-grandchildren, Zack and Shelby.
She also leaves her longtime companion, Gerald Manny of Camas Valley. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Glen; two brothers, Jimmy and Tom and a good friend, Irving Josh.
