Mrs. Adeline Cone Sholar, of Cairo, Georgia, died Thursday, July 28, 2011, in Thomasville, Georgia. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, July 31, 2011, at Eastside Baptist Church in Cairo. The Rev. Bobby Harrell, the Rev. Jim Weaver, and the Rev. Dr. Paul Jones will officiate. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Grandsons, Eddie Sholar, Robbie Sholar, Jackie Halstead, Steve Halstead, Michael Yawn, Paul Hendley, and Burt Ferrell will serve as pallbearers. Honor pallbearers will be Jimmy Ausburn, Todd Gainous, Glenn Collier, Mark Godwin, Rickey Donalson, Dr. James Hester, Wallace Cox, Gene Wade, Dr. Ken Leggett, Dr. Ron Spooner, J. N. Carter, Norman Pyles, Vernon Cook, Fenton Castleberry, Bill Sorrell, Gene Lashley , Tommy Lackey, Kenneth Griffin, the Faithful Three Sunday School Class, Eastside Keenagers, Mrs. Easter Bond, Mrs. Carolyn Griffin, Ms. Shirley Gordon, Mrs. Vera Brinson, and Mrs. Pat Griffin.

Adeline Cone was born April 3, 1921 in Grady County, Georgia to Hansel Alfred and Arlie Belle Kinchen Cone. She married Robert Lee Sholar; who preceded her in death in 1985, after 47 years of marriage. Adeline was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a faithful member of Eastside Baptist Church. Adeline was a humble lady, who loved her God, family, friends and church. Mrs. Sholar was a member of the Eastside Baptist Church Keenagers group. She loved to attend their meetings and traveling with the Keenagers and other groups. She also enjoyed taking part in the Cairo High School Class of 1939 gatherings.

Adeline Sholar is survived by her son, Wallace Edward Sholar Sr. and wife, Libby, of Cairo, Georgia; daughter, Wanda Halstead and husband, Darrell, of Albany, Georgia; grandchildren: Eddie Sholar and wife, Carole, of Leesburg, Georgia, Robbie Sholar and wife, Margaret, of Cairo, Dena Donalson and husband, Ricky , of Bainbridge, Sheila Godwin and husband, Mark, of Pelham, Georgia, Jackie Halstead and wife, Terrie, of Leesburg, Pam Ferrell and husband, Burt, of Leesburg, Steve Halstead of Albany, Michael Yawn of Thomasville, Georgia, and Melissa Hendley and husband, Paul, of Lakeland, Georgia; son-in-law, Henry Yawn of Nashville, Georgia; great-grandchildren, Hannah Hendley and husband, Tyler, of Leesburg, Rylan Sholar of Leesburg, Abigail Sholar of Leesburg, Dillon Sholar of Cairo, Emalee Sholar of Cairo, Lance Godwin of Bainbridge, Jared Godwin of Pelham, Garrett Donalson of Bainbridge, Christopher Ferrell stationed at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, Jake Ferrell of Leesburg, Sam Ferrell of Leesburg, Justin Tomlin living in England, Trey Halstead of Leesburg, Daniel Halstead of Leesburg, Caleb Yawn of Thomasville, Kaylie Yawn of Thomasville, and Addyson Hendley of Lakeland, Georgia; and great-grandchild, Flint Hendley of Albany.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter, Faye Yawn; five sisters; and four brothers. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., today at Eastside Baptist Church.
