Boxer Rebellion Medal of Honor Recipient. Born in Merced, California, he served as a Private in the 1st Regiment, US Marine Corps. During the Battle of Peking, China, on the dates of July 21 to August 17, 1900, Private Moore under heavy enemy fire assisted in the erection of barricades, saving many lives. For meritorious service, he was awarded the Medal of Honor on July 19, 1901 and later achieved the rank of First Sergeant.
